Basic information: Pauline monastery complex on Jasna Góra Mountain in the city of Częstochowa is one of the most sacred places for Polish Catholics and has been a popular pilgrimage destination for centuries. Yearly, thousands of people bring their prayers, wishes and hopes to this place. It is also home to the famous icon of Black Madonna from approx.. 15th century.
This monastery was a beloved place for late Pope John Paul II, it’s also a unique defensive complex with baroque Church of Holy Cross, gothic chapel of The Virgin and impressive bastions, gates and walls.
